The icing on the cake for anyone involved in academia is to witness colleagues' successes. The VSSA alumni event in September was a delight. The first event where we had five alumni from the class of 2022/2023 give presentations before the wonderful guest speakers gave their talks. Three alumni presented their research projects at UCLan and the other two presented their cases in practice and life outside of Dentistry! Glad to see evidence of experiencing life to the full outside of dentistry.
It was a privilege to hear each one presenting the culmination of their MSc's, their clinical work and more. All three MSc dissertation presentations have been submitted for publication! I am looking forward to welcoming one of the five to join us for a PhD involving implant research. Working with like-minded colleagues on fun projects is energising, and it feels strange calling it work!Â
It has been a pleasure to have our first ITI scholar at UCLan involved in advanced clinical work from full arch implant placement and restoration to sinus augmentation and very exciting research projects. A pleasure to have such a skilled prosthodontist on-board with a hunger to achieve highest standards. Thank you ITI once again for the network we can all benefit from.
